Antarctic Heritage Trust invites you to explore Sir Edmund Hillary’s Antarctic hut through a new, ground-breaking virtual reality experience.
In partnership with Auckland University of Technology (AUT) the Trust has developed this virtual reality experience to celebrate New Zealand’s first presence in Antarctica.
Hillary’s Antarctic Hut VR Experience is visiting Shirley Library in the second week in the April school holidays!
The VR Experience is available on the following dates, from 10.00am–3.00pm:
- Tuesday 18 April
- Wednesday 19 April
- Thursday 20 April
- Friday 21 April
Venue: Shirley Library, 36 Marshlands Road, Shirley, Christchurch 8061
Suitable for ages 9 plus.
Free, no bookings are required for this venue.

Please talk to us if you cannot comply with this health and safety measure. Note that we clean headsets and hand controllers between each user.
