It was hard for us to picture what Antarctica would be like before this adventure, and now, looking back, it is challenging to describe in reflection. The wild weather, enchanting wildlife, and the sheer vastness of the massive icy vista is simply incredible.
We are so lucky to have been able to explore this amazing place together, challenging ourselves and each other, sharing and reflecting on this journey together. Official Supporter, Bill, and Inspiring Explorer, Sadra, share some thoughts on their time in Antarctica.
“Experiencing Antarctica has been an evolving process for me. Initially there was the excitement of a new, dramatic landscape, but watching and listening to the ebb and flow of life here transformed it from being a place into an experience. Everything here has slowed me down and made me think about what is really important in life – being kind to the environment and kind to those we are lucky enough to share it with.” – Bill
“Our last day kayaking really summed up our Antarctica experience. Kayaking while it was snowing was something I’ll always remember. It was snowing while we were on the water, and when we landed on shore, everything was white. That was definitely a highlight I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. We landed, and walked up a big hill, and could see all the snow and ice bergs and hills completely covered in snow. The struggle to climb up the hill was also a memorable Antarctic experience! And then we watched Laurette and Anzac in their Hawaiian shirts for a photoshoot in the snow! It was the same day that we encountered seals, poking their heads out of the water, swimming around and under the kayaks. The water was so clear, and we could see everything when they were swimming around us. We also sat floating on the water watching whales swimming around us. There was much snow and wildlife, which really encapsulated our Antarctic experience.” – Sadra
