Digital Communications Coordinator
32 hours per week | Two-year fixed term
The Antarctic Heritage Trust is a New Zealand-based not-for-profit with a vision of ‘Inspiring Explorers’. Through its mission to conserve, share and encourage the spirit of exploration the Trust cares for the remarkable expedition bases of early Antarctic explorers including Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Sir Ernest Shackleton and Sir Edmund Hillary. It shares the legacy of exploration through outreach programmes and encourages the spirit of exploration through expeditions to engage and inspire a new generation.
As part of a small, dedicated team, you’ll work closely with the Communications and Engagement Manager and Communications Advisor. In this role, you’ll lead the creation and execution of impactful digital campaigns, producing engaging content tailored for a variety of platforms. You’ll help deliver the Trust’s digital communications strategy, support effective communication with stakeholders, and drive growth in digital subscriptions and audience engagement. By crafting engaging digital content, you will be at the heart of how the Trust connects with a broad national and global audience.
You will also support the delivery of major marketing campaigns to promote the Trust’s diverse programmes, such as the Inspiring Explorers™ programme, outreach and fundraising initiatives, including subscriber acquisition, while working with the wider team to support stakeholder communications and events. This role will occasionally require travel within New Zealand.
We’re looking for someone who’s not only skilled in digital communications and/or marketing, but also thrives in a small, collaborative team and is interested in learning about history and conservation. You’ll be confident using digital tools to run campaigns and able to adapt written and visual content for a wide range of stakeholders. You should be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a keen eye for detail to ensure everything meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player who’s eager to roll up their sleeves and contribute to an organisation passionate about its mission.
This is a unique opportunity to share the Trust’s work and be involved in a wide range of projects and programmes that make a lasting impact—conserving Antarctic history for generations to come. If you’re a digitally creative communicator who’s curious about history and exploration—and keen to help make a real difference—we’d love to hear from you.
