Continue the Legacy of Exploration – Ross Sea Party Tent

Continue the Legacy of Exploration

This year we are running an appeal to conserve a very special artefact – the Ross Sea Party tent.

The Trust has over 20,000 artefacts in our care with more being repatriated back to Antarctica each year. By giving to our artefact conservation programme, you can help conserve incredible artefacts like the Ross Sea Party tent.

These incredible artefacts help us understand more about how the explorers lived and worked on the Ice and keep their memory alive.

Without help from supporters like you, this history may be forgotten.

Our conservators are masters at their craft, performing incredibly delicate work. They assess each component of an artefact, creating custom conservation plans to ensure they will last as long as possible.

This tent may well be the most challenging artefact we will ever conserve.

Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to NZD $25,000 to our artefact conservation programme until 31 May 2024.

This means a gift of:

  • Your donation of $100 will be doubled by matching funds to $200
  • $250 with matching funds will become $500
  • $500 will become $1000
  • Any amount you give will be matched – creating double the impact!

The Trust’s core administration costs are funded by the New Zealand Government. This means that your donation goes directly to our artefact conservation programme. Donations of NZD$5 or more being eligible for a donation tax credit from New Zealand Inland Revenue (New Zealand individual tax payers only, please contact us for international giving options).

As a donor, you’ll receive stories of impact about our artefact conservation work as well as other Trust initiatives. You’ll also be invited to the Trust’s events, giving you the opportunity to hear stories from our conservation and Inspiring Explorers™ programmes.

To make a gift today, fill out the form below or make a donation via bank transfer.

Please note that we are no longer able to accept donations via cheque due to changes in New Zealand banking policies.

As the Trust’s core administration costs are funded by the New Zealand Government and sponsors your contribution goes directly to the Trust’s mission to conserve, share and encourage the spirit of exploration.
